Read a book to your troop. Here are some great suggestions to cover the topic of respecting authority. Afterward, ask the girls to draw a picture of who the authority figure in the story was.

Sometimes identifying authority figures is difficult. Go through all the pictures and have the girls tell you what authority figure(s) can be found in that place. Then follow up with some questions like:

• What authority figure can you find here?
• What are the types of instructions or rules that they have?
• Why is it important to follow those rules? What happens if you don't?

Have the girls practice showing respect for authority. This page can also be used as a coloring page if girls finish early or if you need something for before your meeting.

At this time you can also have a visitor (local politician, police officer, principal) come speak to the girls about their job and what it is like being an authority figure.

Lastly, the girls will write down how they will show respect to the authority figures in their lives.
