Daisy Good Neighbor Workbook

This meeting is designed so the troop can complete it without traveling anywhere. But troops that have the option to hold it in the community can. Suggestions:
- Hold the meeting outside the school, since one task is drawing and labeling the school.
- Plan a community project, like picking up trash, to demonstrate being a good neighbor.

Neighbors can be the people living directly next to you, or another person in your community or state.
A neighbor can be seen as someone who lives near someone else.
People can have neighbors, states can have neighbors, and countries can have neighbors.
Page 2
Have the girls think about their neighbors at school and at home.
Have them write or draw their friends who sit near them at school.
Have them draw or write down the names of their neighbors at home.
Page 3
Talk about ways we can be good neighbors. Have the girls give examples.
- At school: behave so others can learn, help others when they need help with homework, clean up after ourselves.
- Near home: help neighbors with tasks like moving, be respectful of their property, be quiet.
- In the community: help clean public spaces, be respectful of public spaces, don't be disruptive, follow the rules.

Have the girls draw a picture of the school. Ask them to label a few things:
- Library
- Gym
- Playground
- Doors
- Windows
Page 5
Have the girls identify each of the people found in a school.
Have them share the role of each person in the school.

Landmarks are recognizable things in your town, like a statue, a special building, or a natural feature.
Have the girls draw or write about the landmarks in your town.
Page 7
Each state is different and special. Have the girls find their state and color it in one color.
Then color all the neighboring states in another color.
Have the girls share some special facts about your state: landmarks, famous people from your state, the state bird or flower.
Page 8
Have the girls share ways they can be good neighbors. They can pick at home, at school, or in the community.
They can write or draw how they'll be a good neighbor.
